SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2015-16
In 2015–16, the SSC CGL examination was conducted entirely in offline mode. The exam included objective-type questions in Tier-I and Tier-II, followed by an interview or skill test depending on the post. There was no sectional cut-off in any tier.

- Negative marking for Tier II: 0.25 marks on paper II and 0.50 marks on Paper-I and Paper III for each wrong answer.
SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2016-17
In 2016–17, SSC transitioned from offline to online mode for both Tier-I and Tier-II exams. Tier-III was introduced as a descriptive paper in pen and paper mode, and Tier-IV was added for skill tests.

- For the first time, SSC CGL Exam was conducted in CBT (Computer Based Test) i.e in online mode including both Tier-1 and Tier-2 Exam.
- Negative marking was increased from 0.25 marks for each wrong answer to 0.50 marks in Tier-I Exam.
- Change gets in several questions: Now Tier-1 contains 100 questions.
- The time Duration was reduced from 120 minutes to 75 Minutes.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2017-18
The exam pattern for 2017–18 remained almost the same as 2016–17. The only change was the reduction in time duration for Tier-I from 75 minutes to 60 minutes.
SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2018-19
In 2018–19, SSC introduced normalization to address varying difficulty levels in multiple shifts. The pattern and structure remained consistent with the previous year.
SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2019
The pattern for 2019 remained largely unchanged. However, a notable change was the scheduling of Tier-II and Tier-III exams on the same day.
SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2022 [Major Overhaul in Tier 2]
From 2022 onwards, SSC made a significant change in the Tier 2 pattern, keeping Tier 1 the same as previous years.
