SSC CPO Basic Allowances Provided

The allowance & perks vary according to the post in SSC CPO exam. SSC is a reputed government organization that offers a lucrative package for candidates. Here is the list of allowances added up to the basic pay while working as an SSC CPO Employee:

House Rent Allowance (HRA)

House rent allowance will depend on the class of city you are living in. HRA shall not be less than Rs. 5400/- pm, Rs. 3600/- pm, and Rs.1800/- pm at X, Y & Z class cities respectively.

  • @ 27% of Basic pay for X category of cities
  • @ 18% of Basic Pay for Y category of cities
  • @ 9% of Basic Pay for Z category of cities

HRA shall be revised to 27%, 18% & 9% of Basic Pay in X, Y & Z cities when Dearness Allowance (DA) crosses 25% and further to 30%, 20% and 10% of Basic Pay in X, Y & Z cities when DA crosses 50%

Dearness Allowance (DA)

The Dearness Allowance is a cost of living adjustment allowance and is currently 46% Of Basic Pay under the 7th Pay Commission. It differs according to the category of the city the candidates are posted in as the cost of living varies accordingly.

Transport Allowance (TA)

As the post of SI and ASI requires a lot of travel on-site and off-site, the government provides a transport allowance to the candidates to compensate the expenses incurred. The rate of transport allowance per month varies according to the place you are living in as mentioned below:

  • Employees posted in the cities: Rs.3600+DA thereon
  • Employees posted at all other places: Rs.1800+DA thereon

Diet allowance/Ration Money

Diet Allowance or Ration money is provided to the CPO employees to cater to their diet needs. The Diet allowance of Rs 101.5 is provided to SI in Delhi Police. Ration money of Rs.97.85 per head per day is admissible to SI in CISF.

Children’s Education Allowance/Hostel Subsidy

The government provides support to the candidates to build a good lifestyle for themselves and their families. It is a well-known fact that children are the center of every family and their careers and future is the most important focus of the family. The details regarding the Children Education Allowance (CEA) and Hostel Subsidy provided to the selected candidates is provided in the points below.

  • CEA @ Rs.2250/- per month (Total Rs.27000/- per annum) for children studying class Nursery to 12th class. Whenever DA increases by 50%, CEA shall increase by 25%.
  • Hostel subsidy @ Rs.6750/- per month (Total Rs.81000/- per annum) for children studying in the hostel. Whenever DA increases by 50%, CEA shall increase by 25%.

Dress Allowance

As the SI and ASI jobs are uniformed posts, the appointed candidates will need to maintain their uniforms regularly. The government provides a dress allowance of Rs.10,000/- (Annual) Constable to Inspector in July of every year.

Risk /Hardship Allowance

The risk/hardship allowance is given according to the region. The sub-inspectors working in remote and dangerous areas are given this allowance according to the level of risk. Officials posted in areas of high-risk zones are given an extra allowance.
