UPSC CDS 2 Vacancy Details 2025

The official number of vacancies will be released along with the UPSC CDS 2 2025 notification. For reference, the CDS 1 2025 exam had 457 vacancies, including:

• Indian Military Academy (IMA): 100

• Indian Naval Academy (INA): 32

• Air Force Academy (AFA): 32

• Officers’ Training Academy (OTA – Men & Women): 293 (combined)

Similar distribution is expected in CDS 2 2025.

UPSC CDS 2 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

• IMA & OTA: Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university.

• INA: Degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.

• AFA: Bachelor’s degree with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or a B.E./B.Tech degree.

Age Limit:
20 to 24 years (Age relaxation is applicable as per government norms.)

Nationality:
Indian Citizens, subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, and Tibetan refugees (who came to India before January 1, 1962).

Physical Standards:
Candidates must be physically fit as per UPSC and defence standards.

UPSC CDS 2 Selection Process

The selection process includes the following stages:

1. Written Examination

   • Objective-type questions in English, General Knowledge, and Mathematics (for IMA, INA, AFA)

   • Only English and General Knowledge for OTA

   • Each paper is for 2 hours and carries 100 marks

   • Negative marking of 1/3rd for each wrong answer

2. SSB Interview/Personality Test

   • Conducted by Services Selection Board

   • Includes psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interviews

   • Assesses officer-like qualities and leadership skills

3. Document Verification

   • Original documents will be checked for eligibility compliance

4. Medical Examination

   • Comprehensive physical and medical tests will be conducted

5. Final Merit List

   • Based on marks in written exam + SSB

   • Admission to academies based on merit and preference
