This year International Yoga Day will mark the 8th edition of its celebration. The theme of 2023 International Yoda Day is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam“. With frequent Yoga practice, the theme emphasizes the healthy being of every individual, regardless of discrimination. “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” is a Sanskrit word that means “the whole world is one family” or “the entire world is one single family.” It is based on the Maha Upanishads, which are ancient Indian writings. This principle expresses the belief that all humans are interconnected and should live in harmony and cooperation with one another, regardless of nationality, religion, race, or other forms of division.

How is International Yoga Day will be celebrated in 2023?

Officials say Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the global yoga celebration from the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, together with Union Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, will lead the celebrations in India from Jabalpur, with a news conference in New Delhi.

The one-of-a-kind additions to International Yoga Day 2023

Ocean Ring of Yoga:

The Ocean Ring of Yoga refers to the Indian naval ships that will take part in the Common Yoga Protocol demonstration at nine different locations around the world. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways will coordinate CYP protests in countries where Memorandums of Understanding have been signed.

Bharatmala Yoga:

The Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, ITBP, BSF, and BRO will all collaborate to exhibit the chain of yoga that will result in Yoga Bharatmala. The Indian coastline, on the other hand, will host the Yoga Sagarmala event this year, including the upper deck of the INS Vikrant.

Har Aangan Yoga:

With its ‘Har Aangan Yoga’ project, the International Day of Yoga in 2023 aspires to include everyone, regardless of gender, sex, or age. This social campaign will be carried out in collaboration with Anganwadis, Health and Wellness Centres, and educational institutions.
