BPSC ASO Selection Process 2025

The selection process is conducted in two stages:

  1. Preliminary Competitive Exam
  2. Main Competitive Exam

Candidates must qualify in both stages to be considered for final selection.

BPSC ASO Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

  • The exam is objective type (multiple choice).
  • One paper will be conducted covering General Knowledge subjects.
  • Total Questions: 150
  • Total Marks: 150
  • Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • The exam will be bilingual (Hindi & English), but in case of any discrepancy, the English version will be considered final.

BPSC ASO Mains Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates who qualify the Prelims will have to apply separately for the Mains exam. Any discrepancies between both applications may lead to disqualification. The Mains will include:

This section will assess language comprehension and writing skills at the matriculation level. Topics include:

  • विशेषण

  • हिन्दी भाषा एवं व्याकरण

BPSC ASO Mains Syllabus for General Knowledge

(A) General Studies:

The objective of this section is to assess the candidate’s general awareness of the surrounding environment and their ability to apply it in society. Questions will also include those related to current events and day-to-day observations with a scientific outlook. Such questions are expected to be known to any educated person. Possible topics from which questions may be asked include:

(i) Current Affairs: Scientific developments, national/international awards, Indian languages, books, sports and athletes, important events, etc.
(ii) India and its Neighbouring Countries: History of neighbouring countries, history of India, culture, geography, economic scenario and independence movements, major features of Indian agriculture and natural resources, Indian Constitution and system of governance, political system of the country, Panchayati Raj, community development, Five-Year Plans, and national movements.

(B) General Science and Mathematics:

This section will generally include questions from the following subjects at the matriculation level:

(i) General Science: Questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography.
(ii) Mathematics: Questions related to number systems, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationship between numbers, fundamental arithmetic operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, and profit & loss.

(C) Test of Mental Ability:

This section will include both verbal and non-verbal types of questions. Possible topics from which questions may be asked include:

Analogy, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding.
