SSC CGL Selection Process 2020
The selection process of SSC CGL consists of 5 steps with 4 Tier examinations followed by the final merit list uploaded on the website of SSC at ssc.nic.in. Check out the selection process.
SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam
The first step towards SSC CGL is the computer-based test comprising of multiple-choice questions from the following four subjects. Candidates are provided 60 minutes to complete the paper.

- There is a negative marking of 0.5 marks in all sections in Tier 1.
- The duration of the exam is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped.
SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam
After qualifying the SSC CGL Tier 1, the most important stage of SSC CGL awaits the aspirants i.e. SSC CGL Tier 2 comprising of the maximum marks of SSC CGL. There are 2 compulsory papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 3 and Paper 4 are opted by candidates choosing the specific post of Assistant Audit Officer and Junior Statistical Officer.
- In Tier 2, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer in Paper-II (English Language and Comprehension) and of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I, Paper-III and Paper-IV.
- 2 hours for each paper.
- For physically handicapped students, the cumulative time to complete the Tier-II exam is 2 hours 40 minutes.
SSC CGL Tier 3 Exam
After qualifying the Tier 2 examination, you will be required to write a descriptive paper for 100 marks in 60 minutes.
