What is SSC?

SSC (Staff Selection Commission): Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a government organization that conducts various exams every year to recruit candidates in various ministries/departments/organizations of the Government of India. The commission is responsible to conduct exams like SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC JE, SSC GD, SSC CPO, SSC MTS, and SSC stenographer. This is a great opportunity for the young aspirants who desire to serve under Ministries/ Departments/Organizations of the Government of India. This article talks about all SSC exams in India.

What is SSC CGL?

Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) is conducted by SSC to recruit suitable candidates to various Group B and Group C posts in ministries and departments under Government of India.

SSC CGL Post names-

Assistant Audit Officer, Assistant Accounts Officer, Assistant Section Officer, Inspector of Income Tax, Assistant Superintendent, Divisional Accountant, Junior Statistical Officer, Auditor, Tax Assistant, Upper Divisions Clerk, etc.

Mode of applying- Online

SSC CGL Age Limit-

The SSC CGL age limit for different posts is a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 32 years. However, there is a certain age relaxation criteria for the reserved group of candidates.

SSC CGL Recruitment stages-

  • Tier-I: Objective exam
  • Tier-II: Objective exam (four papers)
  • Tier-III: Subjective exam
  • Tier-IV: Computer proficiency test/skill test/document verification

Tier-I & II will be conducted online while Tier-III & IV will be conducted in offline mode. The candidate has to clear each tier and score cut-off marks, decided by the SSC board, to proceed further in this exam. The job profiles will be decided on the basis of the final merit list of passed candidates.

SSC CGL Exam Duration-

  • Tier-I: 60 minutes
  • Tier-II: 120 minutes for each paper
  • Tier-III: 60 minutes

What is SSC CHSL?

Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam (SSC CHSL) is a combined competition exam conducted to select Higher Secondary qualified students for various departments and offices of the government.

SSC CHSL Post names-

Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA), Sorting Assistant (SA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and DEO (Grade A)

Mode of applying- Online

SSC CHSL Age Limit-

The SSC CHSL age limit for different posts is a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 27 years. However, there is a certain age relaxation criteria for the reserved group of candidates.

SSC CHSL Recruitment stages-

  • Tier-I: Objective exam
  • Tier-II: Subjective exam

Tier-I will be conducted online while Tier-II will be conducted in offline mode.

SSC CHSL Exam Duration-

  • Tier-I: 60 minutes
  • Tier-II: 60 minutes

What is SSC JE?

SSC JE (Staff Selection Commission Junior Engineer) is an exam conducted by SSC for the post of Junior Engineer. Only the engineering graduate candidates are eligible to apply for this exam.

SSC JE Post names-

Civil Junior Engineer, Electrical Junior Engineer, Mechanical Junior Engineer, Surveying and Contract Junior Engineer.

Mode of applying- Online

SSC GD (Staff Selection Commission General Duty Commission) exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission of India to recruit candidates for the General Duty post of Constables (GD) in BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF and Rifleman in AR. SSC GD Constable.

SSC GD Age Limit-

The SSC GD age limit for different posts is a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 23 years. However, there is a certain age relaxation criteria for the reserved group of candidates.

SSC GD Recruitment stages-

  • Stage-1: Objective exam
  • Stage-2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST)
  • Stage 3: Detailed Medical Exam (DME)

Stage 1 will be conducted online.

  • Stage-1: 90 minutes

What is SSC CPO?

SSC CPO (Central Police Organization) exam conducted by SSC to select eligible candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector (SI) of Police. The exam is taken at national level for SI positions in several police organizations such as the ITBP, BSF, CRPF, and the SI in the Delhi Police, among others.

SSC CPO Age Limit-

The SSC CPO age limit for different posts is a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 25 years. However, there is a certain age relaxation criteria for the reserved group of candidates.

SSC CPO Recruitment stages-

  • Stage-1: Paper-I (objective exam)
  • Stage-2: PET/PST (Running, Long Jump, High Jump and Short Put)
  • Stage-3: Paper-II (objective exam)
  • Stage-4: DME

Stage 1 & 3 will be conducted online.

What is SSC Stenographer?

SSC Stenographer exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit the eligible candidates for the post of Stenographer in the various departments of the Central Government. Through SSC Stenographer exam, the selected candidate is placed in the Group C and Group D Non-Gazetted posts in various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations of the Government of India.

SSC Stenographer Post names-

Stenographer Grade-C (Group B-Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade-D (Group-C)

SSC MTS Age Limit-

The SSC MTS age limit for different posts is a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 years. However, there is a certain age relaxation criteria for the reserved group of candidates.

SSC JHT exam is conducted by Staff Selection Commission for the recruitment of Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) or Junior Translators in various government departments/ministries.

Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator, Junior Hindi Translator and Hindi Pradhyapak.
