Railway ALP Selection Process: Stage 1

The exam carries total of 100 questions having a total of four sections Mathematics , General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science & General Awareness. There shall be negative marking for incorrect answer in CBT. Deduction of 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question will be made for each wrong answer.

Railway ALP Selection Process: Stage 2

The passing marks for the ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) Aptitude Test are as follows:

  • Candidates must secure a minimum score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This requirement applies to all candidates, and no relaxation in the passing marks is allowed.
  • For each community category (UR, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST), candidates equal to 8 times the number of ALP vacancies will be shortlisted for the Computer Based Aptitude Test (based on their performance in the Computer-Based Test, provided they meet the qualifying criteria of the CBT).
  • To be considered for the ALP position, candidates must qualify in each test battery of the Computer-Based Aptitude Test. The aptitude test will have questions and answer options available only in English and Hindi. There will be no negative marking in the Computer-Based Aptitude Test.
  • The merit list for the ALP position will be prepared only from the candidates who qualify in the Aptitude Test. The marks obtained in the Computer-Based Test will carry 70% weightage, while the marks obtained in the Computer-Based Aptitude Test will carry 30% weightage in determining the final merit list.
