WBCS Syllabus 2023

WBCS Exam is conducted by the West Bengal Public Service Commission and WBCS exams are held in three levels:

  1. Preliminary
  2. Mains
  3. Interview

WBCS Prelims exam considers only one paper of General Studies, WBCS Mains Exam consists of six mandatory papers and there is one optional subject with two papers. Only those candidates who apply for the optional subject who appear for the Group A and Group B posts. WBCS Mains exam consists of six subjects out of which four are Objective types and other two papers will be Descriptive type.

WBCS Syllabus 2024 for Preliminary Exam

WBCS Preliminary Exam is an Objective type exam, which includes 200 Multiple Choice Questions and it is based on eight topics/ subjects. Each topic/ subject contains 25 marks.

The main motive of the Prelims Exam is screening of candidates, these marks are not added on final selection. The time duration for this exam is 2 hours.

WBCS Preliminary Exam Pattern

WBCS Preliminary Exam Pattern includes the number of total Questions, time duration, marks for each topic/ subject and the name of the topic. 10% marks will be deducted if the candidate discloses his/her identity by writing his/her roll number/name. WBCS Syllabus 2023 for Mains Exam

Candidates who clear the WBCS Prelims Exam only they will be qualify for the next stage i.e. Mains Exam. There are six compulsory papers in WBCS Mains Exam and one optional subject which includes two papers. The time duration will be 3 hours to complete each paper.
