World Nature Conservation Day: World Nature Conservation Day is observed internationally to spread awareness regarding the best practices to protect the natural resources as our Earth does not have an unlimited amount of things we need like water, trees, soil, etc. It is observed on 28 July across the globe to raise awareness to protect natural resources, the importance of nature in our lives, and the necessity of conserving it. With problems like deforestation and illegal wildlife trade increasing every day, nature conservation has gone up on the list of priorities for a lot of countries. The government has recognized this as a problem and taken initiative to reverse it.
The World Nature Conservation Day 2022 is observed with the theme “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature.” This theme is set with the aim to make our environment sustainable. It is celebrated to keep the naturally healthy and safe. Last year World Nature Conservation Day 2021 was celebrated with the theme “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet.”

Conservation of nature is of utmost importance to all human beings and their life on Earth. Earth has given the essential need to live like water, air, trees, animals, food, soil, minerals, etc. so it’s properly used to keep the environment safe and clean. There are so many threats to nature, such as deforestation, illegal trade in wildlife, pollution, plastics use, chemicals, industrial developments, and many more factors. So, it is important to protect nature and create a healthy environment for present and future generations.

The history and origin of world Nature Conservation Day are unknown but the main aim of celebrating it on 28 July is to come together and support nature, don’t exploit it. Conservation of nature is the wise management and utilization of natural resources. Due to natural imbalance, we are facing numerous problems like global warming, various diseases, natural disasters, increased temperature, etc. For the next generation, it is necessary to preserve nature. So, it is important to raise awareness among people all over the world to understand the importance of saving resources, recycling, preserving them, and also understanding the consequences of damage.
Steps to Conserve the Environment?
Because natural resources are limited, and the formation takes millions of years, human exploits them for their endless consumption and comfort. Human beings have become a threat to natural resources as human interference in natural resources is rising day after day. So, it’s very important to save resources, and some of the steps to conserve nature are listed below:

- Use of alternative energy of energy such as solar and wind energy
- Plant more trees to maintain the ecosystem and prevent soil erosion
- Properly use the water resources and reuse the kitchen water for watering the gardens
- Grow vegetation in catchment areas
- Reduce the usage of electricity
- Use the recyclable and biodegradable products
- Ensure the recycling of wastes
- Try to minimize the use of cars for shorter distance
- Use paper bags or cloth bags instead of plastic bags
- Grow your vegetables by using organic compost
- Install water treatment plants and rainwater harvesting
