What Happened On This Day In History: 24th March

24th March is a day marked in history as a day of immense importance. There are a number of reasons why this day is remembered and observed each year. In order to understand the true importance of the day, it is important to understand the reasons.

Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice

Significance of the Day: 24th March is observed in Argentina as the day devoted to remembering the Dirty War and its victims. In the year 1976, Argentina overthrew its president Isabel Peron and soon in the year 1983, and the democratic process was introduced in the country.

Importance of the Day: It was on 1st August 2002 when Argentina National Congress sanctioned the law 25633 for observing the commemoration of the Dirty War. The public holiday, whereas, has come into being since the year 2006. 

National Tree Planting Day

Significance of the Day: It seems that the situations of pollution and other man-made natural disasters were assumed decades ago. Hence, the tree planting day came into being in the early years of the 1800s. Uganda observes this very day as the National Tree Planting Day and the day is kept as a holiday for the individuals to plant trees. 

Importance of the Day: Today, the importance of planting trees has been understood by the entire world. Hence, almost all the countries across the globe observe one specific day as National Tree Planting Day. Normally, this is an event that takes place in the Spring season. The dates vary in different countries as per the climatic conditions. 

Scientology Student Day

Significance of the Day: Among different subjects that are coming up, Scientology is also a subject that educates the students about different religious beliefs, facts, and practices. 

Importance of the Day: This day is celebrated as the Student Day as it was the day when the Special Briefing course of Saint Hill commenced in the year 1961. 

World Tuberculosis Day

Significance of the Day: The day is observed as the World Tuberculosis Day to spread awareness against the epidemic Tuberculosis. On 24th March 1882, Dr Robert Koch discovered the causes of Tuberculosis. In 1982, the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease started observing 24th March as the World Tuberculosis Day across the world. 

Importance of the Day: It was in the year 2012 when almost 1.3 million people died due to the disease Tuberculosis across the world. Though World Tuberculosis Day has been observed since 1982, after this outbreak, it is observed now even more seriously. It is one of the most important health campaigns conducted by the World Health Organization.
