UPSC IES Exam 2020: Check Notification for 495 Vacancies

UPSC IES Recruitment 2020: Apply Now for 495 Vacancies

Dear Readers,
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification for the engineering services exam where candidates will get an opportunity to work as an engineer in the reputed departments of the government. Recruitment will be made to the Services/ Posts under the following categories:-
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
Candidates can apply online for this recruitment for 495 Vacancies from 25th September till 15th October. Check out the detailed notification for IES along with the exam date, exam pattern, eligibility criteria and much more.

UPSC IES Recruitment 2020: Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 21
  • Maximum Age: 30
Age will be calculated as on 1st January 2020 i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January 1990 and not later than 1st January 1999.

UPSC IES Recruitment 2020: Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must be obtained a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India OR
  • Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India); OR
  • Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/ College/ Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time.

For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engg. Posts)  ‐  M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.

For Indian Radio Regulatory Service – M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject or Master’s Degree in Science with Physics and Radio Communication or Electronics or Telecommunication as a special subject.

UPSC IES Recruitment 2020: Selection Process

The selection process of UPSC IES Recruitment will consist of 3 stages as given below:

  • Stage-I: Preliminary Exam (Objective type papers)
  • Stage-II: Mains Exam (Conventional Type papers)
  • Stage-III: Personality Test

Points to be noted:

  • The Marks obtained in Preliminary Examination by the candidates who are declared qualified for admission to the Mains Examination will be counted for determining their final order of merit.
  • The number of candidates to be admitted to the Main/Stage-II Examination will be about six to seven time the total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year through this examination.
  • For each wrong answer, one-third (1/3rd) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

UPSC IES Stage-II: Mains Exam – 600 Marks

The candidates qualified in the preliminary examination will be called for stage II/mains examination. Check out the details below:

Conventional papers must be answered in English. The question paper will be set in English only.

UPSC IES Stage-III(Personality Test) – 200 Marks

  • In the Personality Test special attention will be paid to assessing the candidate’s capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application and integrity of character.
  • The number of candidates to be summoned for the Personality Test will be about twice the number of vacancies to be filled.
  • The Personality Test will carry 200 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks).
  • Marks obtained by the candidates in the Stage-I:(Preliminary/Stage-I) Examination, Stage-II:(Main/Stage-II) Examination and Stage-III (Personality Test) would determine their final ranking.
  • Candidates will be allotted to the various services keeping in view their ranks in the examination and the preference expressed by them for the various services/posts.

UPSC IES Recruitment 2020: Application Fee

Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/ PH who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/‐ either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India. “Pay by cash” mode option will be deactivated at 11.59 PM of 14.10.2019 i.e. one day before the closing date.
