UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam Pattern

Important Points:
- The exam will be Offline.
- 1/3rd Negative Marking is there.
- Candidates will have to score a minimum qualifying mark of 33% in Paper II : CSAT
- Paper II is qualifying in nature, merit to qualify for Mains examination will be based on Paper 1 only.
- The medium of exam will be Bilingual
- The marks scored in the Prelims exam will not be added to the total score for final merit.

Paper-II: General Studies (CSAT)
The second paper is of qualifying in nature and includes the following subjects:
- Comprehension;
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability;
- Decision making and problem solving;
- General mental ability;
- Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level),
- Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. — Class X level);
