UPSC Civil Services (IAS) 2020: Total Vacancies Reduced Over The Years; Check Details

UPSC Civil Services 2020: UPSC IAS 2020 notification has released for the UPSC Civil Services exam 2020 conducted for the appointment of officers in IAS, IPS, IRS etc. The total number of vacancies announced in the UPSC CSE 2020 notification is 796. The vacancies have reduced over the years as seen from the current trend for the appointments to be made via the Civil Services Examination.

The total number of seats announced is less as compared to the previous years. As per media reports, a reduction of 300 seats from the overall vacancies is seen for the Civil Services examination 2020 and Indian Engineering Services is likely to be seen. UPSC conducts the Civil Services examination every year for the recruitment of officers in various services throughout the country. Candidates are selected via 3 stages of Preliminary, Mains, and Interview to appoint in IAS, IPS, IRS, etc. Lakhs of aspirants register themselves every year to appear for this examination.

As per some media reports, the Railway Board had issued a letter to the Union Public Service Commission to not appoint officers for railways through the examination.  Candidates preparing for the Civil Services Examination or IES exam might be disappointed to hear this news. With the reduction in the number of vacancies, the competition is likely to increase making it more difficult to clear the exam.

UPSC has already released the notification for the UPSC Civil Services exam 2020 on 12th February 2020. Candidates must start working hard for the UPSC Exam 2020 to be conducted on 31st May 2020. UPSC CSE has witnessed a major decrease in the vacancies over the years. With the railway board backing out from being a part of the recruitment, the vacancies can face a major setback in the future as well.
