The Staff Selection Commission released the call letters for SSC JE Paper 1 Exam. SSC JE Exam 2020 is scheduled to be held from 27th to 30th October 2020 & 11th December 2020. Candidates from engineering background will be appearing for the SSC JE exam to be recruited as a Junior engineer in the prestigious departments of SSC.

SSC JE 2020 Exam Pattern
SSC JE 2020 is conducted in two papers i.e. paper 1 and paper 2. Paper 1 is an objective paper while Paper 2 is a descriptive paper. Given below is the table having detailed exam pattern for paper 1 and paper 2:
|Paper 1 is a computer-based test having multiple-choice questions.||Paper 2 is a descriptive paper conducted in pen and paper mode.|
|It consists of 3 sections namely General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Engineering (Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical).||Candidates have to attempt a question paper of 300 marks in 2 hours.|
|Sections 1 and 2 are same for each candidate. In section 3, candidates have to choose their respective subjects from Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering.||Paper 2 is a conventional type exam, candidates have to choose the subject from Part A- Civil & Structural Engineering, Part B- Electrical Engineering or Part C- Mechanical Engineering.|
|Section 1 and 2 consists of 50 questions each. These sections test the candidate’s ability and knowledge of general reasoning and awareness. Section 3 consists of 100 questions and examines the candidate’s knowledge for the subject chosen from Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrica Engineering.||Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Table, and Steam Table for Paper-II.|
|In Paper-I and Paper-II for General Engineering, the candidate will be required to attempt only the part as per the option given in the application form filled by the candidate.||There is no negative marking applicable in Paper-2.|
|Candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) are required to attempt Part-B (Electrical Engineering)|
|There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer.|

SSC JE Exam Analysis: General Intelligence & Reasoning
The reasoning section includes questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. Candidates will be required to answer questions from various topics such as analogy, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, etc. The overall level of the Reasoning section was easy to moderate. Candidates can easily attempt more than 40 in this section.

SSC JE Exam Analysis: General Awareness
The general awareness section was seen to be of moderate level. Questions were asked on various topics including history, polity, current affairs, science, etc. Below are the points to be noted related to the general awareness section:

SSC JE Exam Analysis: Technical Part (Electrical)
The technical paper (Electrical Engineering) was of a moderate level. Questions were asked on topics such as Electric circuits, electric machines, transmission, etc. Points to be noted:
- The technical part consisted of theory mostly but questions were easily doable
- Electrical Circut: 10 – 15 Q
- Electrical Machine: 30 – 35 Q
- Measurement – 7 Q
- Transmission – 10-15 Q
