(a) 14330
(b) 15440
(c) 13440
(d) 14550

Amount after 3 years = Rs. 12000
So, the amount after 4thyear
⇒12000×112/100=13440 Rs.
Q2. Divide Rs. 4350 in two parts so that the simple interest on the first when deposited for one year at 9% per annum and that on the second when deposited for two years at 10% per annum in a bank are the same.
(a) Rs. 1250, Rs. 3100
(b) Rs. 1450, Rs. 2900
(c) Rs. 1350, Rs. 3000
(d) Rs. 1550, Rs. 2800

S2. Ans. (c)
Sol. Let the Ist part be Rs. x.
Then, 2nd part = Rs. (4350 – x)
= Rs. 3000
Ist part = Rs. 3000
2nd part = Rs. 1350
Q3. A sum of money was lent at simple interest at 11% per annum for 3 1/2 years and 4 1/2 years respectively. If the difference in interest for two periods was Rs. 412.50, then find the sum?
(a) Rs. 3570
(b) Rs. 7530
(c) Rs. 5730
(d) Rs. 3750

S3. Ans. (d)
Sol. The sum be = (412.50×100)/((9/2 – 7/2)×11)
= Rs. 3750
Q4. The amount (in Rs) received at 10% per annum compound interest after 3 yrs is Rs 1,19,790. What was the principal?
(a) 90000
(b) 1,00,000
(c) 80000
(d) 75000

S4. Ans. (A)
Concerning question
P × 110/100×110/100×110/100=119790
P = 90000 Rs.
Q5. The present worth of a bill due 7 months hence is Rs. 2400 and if the bill were due at the end of 2 ½ years its present worth would be Rs. 2032. The rate percent is (%)
(a) 10 ⅚
(b) 5
(c) 20
(d) 10

S5. Ans. (d)
We know that
& Amount in both case will be the same
2400(100+R×7/12)=2032 (100+R×2.5)
⇒150(100+R×7/12)=127 (100+2.5R)
⇒15000–12700=R(2.5×127 –150×7/12)
⇒R=23000/((317.5-87.5) )=10%
Q6. In how many months will Rs 8,000 yield Rs 2,648 as compound interest at 20% per annum compounded semi-annually?
(a) 18
(b) 24
(c) 12
(d) 30

S6. Ans. (A)
In 3y ears. But it is half-yearly so 3/2 year = 18 months

(a) Rs. 48785
(b) Rs. 48775
(c) Rs. 44875
(d) Rs. 84775

S7. Ans. (b)
Sol. R = 16% p.a. ⇒ 16/4% quarterly.
The amount of Rs. 17576, paid at the end of the first quarter has its principal equal to
Similarly, the principal at the end of 2nd
Quarter = 17576×(25/26)^2=Rs.16250
And at the end of the 3^rd quarter
= 17576×(25/26)^3=Rs.15625
Net principal = Rs. (16900 + 16250 + 15625)
= Rs. 48775

= Rs. 440
Amount returned by Ramu to Arun
= 2% of 440
= 2/100×440
Q9. In how many years will Rs 2,000 yield Rs 662 as compound interest at 10% per annum compounded annually?
(a) 3
(b) 2
(c) 4
(d) 5

Sol. CI = 662 P = 2000 Amount = 2662
2662 = 2000 (1+10/100)^T
1331/1000 = (11/10)^T
T = 3 year
Q10. What is the compound interest earned on Rs 80,000 at 40% per annum in 1 year compounded quarterly?
(a) 28317
(b) 37128
(c) 18732
(d) 21387

Sol. P = 80,000 R = 40%
C.I. = 80,000 (1+10/100)^4 – 80,000
= 80,000×(11/10)^4 – 80,000
= 37128 Rs.
