Amount after 3 years = Rs. 12000
So, the amount after 4thyear
⇒12000×112/100=13440 Rs.
Q2. Divide Rs. 4350 in two parts so that the simple interest on the first when deposited for one year at 9% per annum and that on the second when deposited for two years at 10% per annum in a bank are the same.

Sol. Let the Ist part be Rs. x.
Then, 2nd part = Rs. (4350 – x)
SI_1=SI_2
(x×9×1)/100=((4350-x)×10×2)/100
9x+20x=4350×20
x=(4350×20)/29
= Rs. 3000
Ist part = Rs. 3000
2nd part = Rs. 1350
Q3. A sum of money was lent at simple interest at 11% per annum for 3 1/2 years and 4 1/2 years respectively. If the difference in interest for two periods was Rs. 412.50, then find the sum?

We know that
P=100A/(100+RT)
& Amount in both case will be the same
So,
2400(100+R×7/12)=2032 (100+R×2.5)
⇒150(100+R×7/12)=127 (100+2.5R)
⇒15000–12700=R(2.5×127 –150×7/12)
⇒R=23000/((317.5-87.5) )=10%
Q6. In how many months will Rs 8,000 yield Rs 2,648 as compound interest at 20% per annum compounded semi-annually?

Amount/principle=10648/8000=1331/1000⇒∛(1331/1000)=11/10
In 3y ears. But it is half-yearly so 3/2 year = 18 months
Q7. Ram borrowed a sum of money and returned it in three equal quarterly installments of Rs. 17576 each. Find the sum borrowed, if the rate of interest charged was 16% per annum compounded quarterly.

Sol. R = 16% p.a. ⇒ 16/4% quarterly.
The amount of Rs. 17576, paid at the end of the first quarter has its principal equal to
=17576×(25/26)^1=Rs.16900
Similarly, the principal at the end of 2nd
Quarter = 17576×(25/26)^2=Rs.16250
And at the end of the 3^rd quarter
= 17576×(25/26)^3=Rs.15625
Net principal = Rs. (16900 + 16250 + 15625)
= Rs. 48775
Q8. Arun and Ramu are friends. Arun borrowed a sum of Rs. 400 at 5% per annum simple interest from Ramu. He returns the amount with interest after 2 years. Ramu returns 2% of the total amount to Arun. How much did Arun receive?

Sol. Amount = Rs.(400+(400×5×2)/100)
= Rs. 440
