- The rocket was created by Hyderabad-based, four-year-old start-up Skyroot Aerospace. The launch was supported by IN-SPACe and ISRO (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre).
- India didn’t allow for the production of rockets and satellites by private businesses until the year 2020. And Skyroot has made history in just under two years.

- Former ISRO scientists Chandana and Daka now lead Skyroot as its chief executive officer and chief operating officer, respectively.
- Chandana, a 32-year-old rocket engineer, attended IIT-Kharagpur. He is an Andhra Pradesh native and is from Vishakapatnam.
- He was hired by ISRO through a campus placement and spent six years working at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), the organization’s rocket manufacturing site. He was a member of the group that worked on the GSLV-Mk3, the biggest rocket that ISRO has ever produced. At ISRO, Chandana’s interest in projectiles “100 times” rose.
- He discovered a coworker in Daka at VSSC who shared his views. The 33-year-old is an IIT-Madras alumnus with a bachelor’s in electrical engineering and a master’s in microelectronics and vertical launching systems.
- In his capacity as a flight computer engineer at the space center, Daka assisted in the development of the hardware and software for a number of onboard computer modules that implement the sequencing, navigation, control, and guidance functions for launch vehicles.
