The Railway Minister of India Ashwini Vaishanw has disclosed in the Rajya Sabha about the approximately 2.65 Lakh posts lying vacant in the Indian Railways. According to Minister Vaishnaw’s speech in Rajya Sabha, there are 2,65,547 posts lying vacant across departments which include 2,177 gazetted posts and 2,63,370 non-gazetted posts in Railways. This is a great opportunity for the candidates as railways have the following vacancies railway. In a written reply Ashiwini Vaishnav said in the central railway vacancy for Gazetted is 56 and for non-gazetted is 27,177. The number of vacancies in East Coast Railway is 87 for Gazetted and 8,447.
In Eastern Central Railway the vacancy for gazetted is 170 and for non gazetted is 15268. In Eastern Railway, vacancy for gazetted is 195 and for non gazetted is 28204,” he added. In Metro Railway vacancy for gazetted is 22 in addition to non gazetted is 856. In further details he added, North Central Railway, vacancy for gazetted is 141 and for non gazetted is 19366. In North Eastern Railway, vacancy for gazetted is 62 and for non gazetted is 14231.
In Northern Railway, vacancy for gazetted is 115 and for non gazetted is 37436. In Northeast Frontier Railway, the vacancy for gazetted is 112 and for non gazetted is 15677. North Western Railway vacancy for gazetted is 100 and for non gazetted is 15049.
In South Central Railway, vacancy for gazetted is 43 and for non-gazetted is 16749. In Southern Railway, vacancy for gazetted is 161 and for non gazetted is 19500. The South Western Railway with the vacancy of gazetted is 65 and for non gazetted is 6625.
Furthermore, he added, West Central Railway, vacancy for gazetted is 59 and for non gazetted is 11073. In Western Railway, vacancy for gazetted is 172 and for non gazetted is 26227.

Railway Minister has mentioned that the other units have 507 for gazetted and for non gazetted it is 12760. During this speech, he informed Rajya Sabha that occurrence and filling up of vacancies is a continuous process and the same is filled by the placement of indents by Railways with recruitment agencies as per operational requirements.
Ashwini Vasishnaw added the RRB recruitment process is disturbed due to the Covid-19 lockdown in various states of the country. Afterward from 15th December 2020, the recruitment process has begun in various phases. In the last 5 years, RRB and RRC have recruited 189790 candidates for various posts.
RRB Recent Updates for the Concerns and Registration
- RRB has received 2 Lakh Grievances via email, 9861 Camps & Web Programme till 3rd February 2022. Indian Railways has formed a committee to look after the matter to solve the concerns raised by the candidates regarding the result of RRB NTPC CBT 1 which was released on 14th January 2022.
- Candidates are given three weeks time up to 16th February 2022 to submit their concerns and the committee after examining these concerns will submit its recommendations by 4th March 2022.
