RRB NTPC Normalization Formula: Railway Recruitment Board is a renowned government organization in India. Every year RRB releases a huge number of vacancies across India which has crores of applicants every year. As it has a large no of vacancies in various posts the number of applicants is more in numbers. It is a kind of challenge for any organization to conduct exams for such a large number of applicants. So it is necessary to make proper arrangements for the venues and the limitation of the seats across the country at the same time. As the number of aspirants is in crores so it is challenging to conduct the exam. So the exams have to take in a shift on different days and with a limited capacity of candidates. RRB NTPC 2020 exam will take place from 28 December 2020 till March 2021. SSC also uses the normalization process for the recruitment process to give equal weightage to each shift of the entire examination.
Indian Railways (RRB’s) is organizing the mega recruitment drive 2020 with about 1.4 lakh vacancies in various departments. According to the Ministry of Railways, more than 2.44 crore candidates will be appearing for the exam from different cities across the country. The exam is going to conduct in different sessions there are chances that there may be some variations in the difficulty level of each shift. In order to equalize the variation in the
difficulty level of question papers normalization formulae is being used by the board to calculate the score of the candidate. This ensures that the level is the same for every shift. Let us understand the detailed information about the revised normalization formulae used by RRB.
What is Normalization in RRB NTPC Exam 2020?
Normalization means to measure the different values of different times on the same scale. Normalization procedure is a Scientific and Statistical Process. It is not a process of awarding grace marks. The process is totally supported by the statistical parameters calculated on the idea of the performance of the candidate within the RRB Exam altogether sessions. The normalization procedure is going to be totally supported by the raw score of candidates. The raw score is evaluated based on the number of questions attempted correctly or wrongly. These are the scores that are obtained by the aspirants by answering correctly in each section of the Exam. These are the scores calculated after applying the penalty for wrong answers.
The normalization process uses a formula for evaluating the actual score of the candidate. Although it depends upon the commission which formulae it uses for evaluating marks. the formulae are different for a different organization. Marks scored by the candidates and the actual number of valid questions in the various shifts are taken as input. There are various formulas that can be used for the process.
The normalization process is totally based on the calculated parameters does not include any kind of human interference. The process involves the raw score of the candidate, the mean and standard deviation of raw marks of candidates in his/her session as well as other sessions being normalized. The raw score is evaluated based on the number of questions attempted correctly or wrongly.
It will more easy to understand it with an example.
Example: If the negative marking is 1/3 and,
the candidate answered 80 questions, out of which 12 were wrong,
then the raw score will be 80 – 12 – 12 * (1/3) = 64.
Here 64 is the raw score.
