RRB Chennai

RRB Chennai is a region under the Railway Recruitment Board that comes under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. It is responsible for recruiting the working staff (Group ‘C’) required for Chennai, Salem, and Tiruchirappalli Divisions. Candidates looking forward to working in those areas can apply for recruitment from the RRB Chennai division. RRB Chennai Head Quarters office of Southern Railway (SR) and Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. The exams conducted by RRB Chennai include RRB NTPC, RRB Group D, and others.

RRB will conduct the exams from April to June 2021. The exact dates will be released soon by RRB. Admit card will be released in April 2021. RRB NTPC exam’s first phase is going on which has been started from 28th December 2020 to 13th January 2021. RRB Chennai Recruitment Selection Process

RRB invites applications for eligible aspirants through the notification released on official site. The applications are examined for eligibility. The eligible candidates are asked for a written examination with call letters being sent a month in advance of the date of the examination.

In most of the categories of jobs, there is no interview after the written examination. In some categories, there will be a second stage written examination. In categories related to operational safety, there will be a psychological test.

The application-details furnished by successful candidates are verified and they are called for counselling and scrutiny of original documents. A panel of names is then recommended to Southern Railway / Integral Coach Factory to the extent of vacancies. The candidates will be required to pass a medical examination before appointment.

RRB Chennai NTPC Selection Procedure

The selection procedure for RRB NTPC Chennai includes 3 stages. Stage 1 is followed by stage 2, then typing test and document verification.

  1. 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Negative marking of 1/3 is there.
  • Stage 1 is of screening nature.
  • The candidates 20 times the number of vacancies will be selected for stage 2.
  • Normalization of marks will be done

2. 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Separate 2nd Stage CBT will be taken for each of the 7th CPC Level i.e. Level 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 with the graded difficulty level.
  • Negative marking of 1/3 is there.
  • The level of questions shall be different for a different level of posts.
  • Normalization of marks will be done

3. Typing Skill Test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable)

CBAT and typing test will be qualifying in nature. CBAT will be conducted only for the candidates who have opted for Traffic Assistant and Station Master.

4. Document Verification/Medical Examination.

Based on the combined performances of all the stages, candidates will be called for the Document Verification round.

RRB Group D syllabus

The criterion for PET for Railway group D is as under:

Male candidates Female candidates
  • Should be able to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and
  • Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance.
  • Should be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down; and
  • Should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

RRB Chennai admit card for all posts will be released on the website officially. Candidates must download the admit card before appearing for the exam.
