Q2. P and Q are two positive integers such that PQ = 64. Which of the following cannot be the value of P + Q?
(a) 20
(b) 65
(c) 16
(d) 35
      2. (d); If PQ = 64, then (P, Q) will be in the
form of (1, 64), (2, 32), (4, 16), (2, 32), (8, 8)
So, P + Q
will not be equal to the 35

Q3. A student instead of finding the value of 7/8 of the number, found the value of 7/18 of the number. If his answer differed from the actual one by 770, find the number.
(a) 1584
(b) 2520
(c) 1728
(d) 1656
Q4. If a number 774958A96B is to be divisibly by 8 and 9, the respective values of A and B will be –
(a) 7 and 8
(b) 8 and 0
(c) 5 and 8
(d) None of these
4.(b);The number is divisible by 8 if 96B is divisible by 8.
So, B will be equal to either 8 or 0
The number is divisible by 9 if the sum of number is divisible by 9
Hence, (55+A+B) is divisible by 9, if (A + B) is either 0 or 8
So, A and B may take either 8 or 0
Q5. Three bells chime at intervals of 18 min, 24 min and 32 min respectively. At a certain time, they begin to together. What length of time will elapse before they chime together again ?
(a) 2 h and 24 min
(b) 4 h and 48 min
(c) 1 h and 36 min
(d) 5 h
5.(b); The bell will chine together again after a time that is equal to the LCM of 18, 24 and 32 = 288 min = 4 hr 48 min
Q6. Two positive integers differ by 4 and sum of their reciprocals is 10/21. Then, one of the numbers is –
(a) 3
(b) 1
(c) 5
(d) 21
Q7. Which is the least number that must be subtracted from 1856 so that the remainder when divided by 7, 12 and 16 is 4 ?
(a) 137
(b) 1361
(c) 140
(d) 172
7(d); LCM of (7, 12, 16) = 336
If we divide 1586  by 336 then remainder is 176;
But as question given, we need a reminder 4
Hence least number to be subtracted =176-4=172
Q8. What is the smallest number which when increased by 5 is completely divisible by 8, 11 and 24 ?
(a) 264
(b) 259
(c) 269
(d) None of these
8(b); LCM of (8, 11, 24) = 264
Required answer will be 5 less than 264,
So required answer =264-5=259
Q9. How many integers, greater than 999 but not greater than 4000, can be formed with the digits 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4, if repetition of digits is allowed ?
(a) 499
(b) 500
(c) 375
(d) 376
9(c); As per question required number is 4 digit number less than 4000
If repetition is allowed then total number =3×5×5×5
Q10. A vertical pole and a vertical tower are on the same level ground. From the top of the pole the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 45° and the angle of depression of the foot of the tower is 60°. Find the height of the pole if the height of the tower is 60 metres.
(a) 30(√3-1)  m
(b) 30(√3+1)  m
(c) 30(3-√3)  m
(d) 10 (√3-1)  m
Q11. A manufacturer undertakes to supply 2000 pieces of a particular component at Rs. 25 per piece. According to his estimates, even if 5% fail to pass the quality tests, he will make a profit of 25%. However as it turned out, 50% of the components were rejected. What is the loss of the manufacturer?
(a) Rs. 13000
(b) Rs. 12500
(c) Rs. 15000
(d) Rs. 14750
11(a); Total price of component =50,000
Expect rejection =5%=2500
Remaining = 47500 = CP + 25% profit
CP = 38000
But 50% goods rejected, so he was paid 50%o f 50000
So, Loss = 38000 – 25000 = 13000
Q12. A cube has each edge 2 cm and a cuboid is 1 cm long, 2 cm wide and 3 cm high. The paint in a certain container is sufficient to paint an area equal to 54 cm2. Which one of the following is correct ?
