Hey Guys, I am sharing my journey of SSC CGL 2016 Exam. It all started in Feb 2016 when SSC released the notification for CGL 2016. I was nearing my final year exams and had already started preparing for competitive exams. I went over the syllabus and applied for CGL 2016.
To start with, I bought ‘Wren and Martin’ for English grammar and started practicing maths from whatever source I got. For reasoning section, I only solved a few previous year papers. For GK section, I relied on current affairs, sport, and science as I have never been good at areas of Gk other than these. I scored 161 in tier-1 2016 and my AIR was in 12000s.
For tier-2, I used to read English and solve previous year papers only, both of maths and English. In tier 2 I managed to score 164.5 in maths and 154 in English. I knew I had underperformed bu my AIR shot up to 1600s from 12000s in pre. I knew a good score in tier-3 would take my rank further above.
For tier 3, I followed nothing specific and limited myself only to reading. I scored 71 in tier-3 and ended up with a total of 550.5 marks and an AIR 821. Well, I believe I could have performed better but I am more than happy with the post of ‘Preventive Officer’. Hoping to score higher in cgl-2017. Good luck, grow and help others grow.
One Important Preparation Tip: Clear all your basic concepts of all CGL Subjects. then practice Mock tests daily until you achieve your desired score in the Mock tests. The confidence in your abilities will work wonders for you in CGL 2017 exam. I will suggest to keep reading the Hindu newspaper daily. Your reading skills will come handy for Descriptive paper in the Tier-3 exam.
