 9. Manoj received Rs. 6000 as his share out of the total profit of Rs. 9000 which he and Ramesh earned at the end of one year. If Manoj invested Rs.120000 for 6 months, whereas Ramesh invested his amount for the whole year, what was the amount invested by Ramesh
A.   2000
B.  3000
C.  4000
D.  5000
10. Yogesh started a business investing Rs. 45000. After 3 months, Pranab joined him with a capital of Rs. 60000. After another 6 months, Atul joined them with a capital of Rs. 90000. At the end of the year, they made a profit of Rs. 20000. What would be Atuls share in it?
A.   7000
B.   6000
C.   5000
D.   4000

1.( B)
Explanation:
In this type of question as time frame for both investors is equal then just get the ratio of their investments.
P:Q = 95000:35000
= 95:35
= 19:7
2. (D)
3.( A)
Explanation:
Now as per question, Kamal invested for 12 months and Sameer invested for 7 months.
So Kamal:Sameer = (9000*12):(8000*7)
= 108:56
= 27:14
Sameer Ratio in profit will be  = (6970*14/41)= 2380
 4.( C)
Explanation:
Arun : Kamal : Vinay = (8,000 x 6) : (4,000 x 8) : (8,000 x 8)
= 48 : 32 : 64
= 3 : 2 : 4
Kamal’s share=4005*2/9 =  890
 5.( C)
 6.( B)
 Explanation:
 Suppose B joined after x months
 then, 21000*12=36000*(12-x)
 => 36x = 180
 => x = 5
7.(C)
Explanation:
A:B:C = (8000*6):(4000*8):(8000*8)
= 48:32:64
= 3:2:4
So B share = (2/9)*4005 = Rs 890
8.(A)
9. (D)
Explanation:
Suppose Ramesh invested  x.
Then, Manoj : Ramesh = 20000 * 6  :  x * 12.
120000/12x : 6000/3000
=> x = 120000/24  =  5000
10.( D)

  1. Dear admin there is small correction required in question number 8 and 9th ques options, 8th ques it should b what is d share ofof kapil should b there,the word " initially" not needed

  2. A:B:C. —((16000*3) plus ((16000-5000)*9):((12000*12) plus (5000*9)):21000*6
    —7:9:6

  3. See my solution which I post for quez 10 only one mistake in that I made which is 20000/5 = 4000 whileI wrote 5000 by mistake

  4. I follow RS Aragwal for quantativ… Can anyone suggest me good author to cover all the MATHS sections of CGL SSC.

  5. there is a small mistake in 9th solution , in quesion u said manoj invested one lakh twenty thousand but in d solution u considered that Manoj invested only 20000 , please check it madam

  6. let the original amount be 100x.
    so the amount of salt is 15x.
    after evaporation ,
    amount of solution =100x-30
    but the amount of salt remains the same.
    15x = 20% (100x-30)
    x=120

  7. let V is the volume of original solution.
    1) initially– water= 85%
    & salt= 15%
    hence salt= 15V/100 ltr–(1)

    2) after 30 ltrs of water evaporated then remaining vol of solution=V-30ltr

    then salt= 20(V-30)/100 ltr–(2)

    from eqn 1 & 2
    15V/100= 20(V-30)/100
    by solving we get V=120 Ltr

  8. S/(S+W) = 0.15
    0.85S = 0.15W or 17S = 3W

    S/(S+W1) = 0.2
    W1 = W-30
    0.8S = 0.2W-6 or 4S = W-30
    12S = 3W-90
    17S = 3W
    so 5S = 90 or S = 18 Kg

    15% = 18
    100% = 120
