Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressed the nation today where he announced some major reforms for the upcoming days. First of all, he highlighted the power of India focusing on “Aatma nirbhar bharat”, means a self-dependent nation. The progress of India and reforms has affected the world at large. We have always emerged out as a winner, transforming critical situations to a possible opportunity. As of now, India produces 2 lakh masks and 2 lakh PPE kits from minimum production some time back.

PM Modi Announces 20 Lakh Crore Economic Package

Moreover, the Prime Minister announced an economic package of 20 lakh crore for the benefit of people. The package constitutes 10% of the GDP. This step has been taken to make India a self-sufficient nation. In the history of India, a package of this kind has never been announced benefitting the people of all strata whether its labour class, middle class, upper-middle-class, MSME, industries etc. It will make sure that low-income families are able to overcome tough times in future. The detailed information regarding the package will be announced by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tomorrow on 13th May.

Pillars of “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat”

India is standing on 5 pillars as mentioned by the Prime Minister. These 5 pillars strengthen India and its reforms:

1. Economy- quantum jump not incremental change
2. Infrastructure- for modern India
3. System- technology-driven for 21st century
4. Demography- vibrant demography as the world’s largest democracy
5. Demand- optimise demand and supply chain in the economy

Lockdown 4.0: Lockdown extended after 17th May

PM Modi has also made the announcement to extend the lockdown further after 17th May. Lockdown 4.0 will witness some major changes in the restrictions applied by the government. The guidelines will be revised based on the suggestions by the Chief Ministers of all states. The detailed guidelines will be issued on 18th May. It is expected that there will be some relaxations after 17th May.

Moreover, the coronavirus cases in India have crossed the 70,000-mark and the death toll jumped to 2,293 with 87 fatalities reported in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the country stand at 46,008, while those cured are 22,454.
