Hello, Greetings!! SSC CGL Pre 2017 will commence in the month of June/July 2017. In order to help and guide all of you, we’re going to post VOCABULARY BASED ON THE HINDU NEWSPAPER. In all the competitive exams, Vocabulary questions are asked from newspapers.


1.Relinquish 

Meaning: voluntarily cease to keep or claim; give up.
Synonym: renounce,
Antonym: keep, retain, continue
Sentence: “he relinquished his managerial role to become chief executive”

2. Vivacious
Meaning: (especially of a woman) attractively lively and animated.
Synonym: lively, animated, full of life, spirited, high-spirited, effervescent
Sentence: “her vivacious and elegant mother”

3. Vituperate
Meaning: blame or insult (someone) in strong or violent language.
Synonym: revile, rail against, inveigh against, fulminate against, attack, upbraid,
Sentence: every week the minister would ascend the culpulpit and vituperate the parishioners for a litany of vices

4.Plausible
Meaning:(of an argument or statement) seeming reasonable or probable.
Synonym: credible, reasonable, believable,
Antonym: unlikely, improbable
Sentence: “a plausible explanation”

5.Portend
Meaning: be a sign or warning that (something, especially something momentous or calamitous) is likely to happen.
Synonym: presage, augur, foreshadow, foretell, prophesy
Sentence: “the eclipses portend some major events”

6.Reimburse
Meaning: repay (a person who has spent or lost money).
Synonym: compensate, recompense, refund
Sentence: “the investors should be reimbursed for their losses”

7.Reiterate
Meaning: say something again or a number of times, typically for emphasis or clarity.
Synonym: repeat, say again, restate, retell, recapitulate
Sentence: “she reiterated that the government would remain steadfast in its support”

8.Rejuvenate
Meaning: make (someone or something) look or feel better, younger, or more vital.
Synonym: revive, revitalize, renew, regenerate, restore, 
Antonym: extinguish, kill, quench, suppress
Sentence: “a bid to rejuvenate the town centre”

9.Relegate
Meaning: assign an inferior rank or position to.
Synonym: downgrade, lower,
Antonym: upgrade, promote
Sentence: “they aim to prevent women from being relegated to a secondary role”

10. Vociferous
Meaning: expressing or characterized by vehement opinions.
Synonym: vehement, outspoken, vocal, forthright
Sentence: “he was a vociferous opponent of the takeover”
