International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on 8th March all over the world to identify the achievements of women and how they contribute to the growth of a country. Although the contribution and existence of women should be celebrated to identify the contributions and to encourage her we have International Women’s Day dedicated to her. Supporting and celebrating women’s rights is a year-round responsibility. This year’s women’s day is totally different keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic. Women’s day focuses on those women who are deprived of basic human rights. There are many sections of society where women are not even aware of their rights and compromise for what they are told to. The fight is for all such women who are unaware of their skills and capabilities, compromising with the rules set by the stereotypical norms.
International Women’s Day 2021 Theme:
The theme for this year is “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.” The theme highlights how women can be made equal partners in the decision-making process especially with regard to policymaking.
Society should protect the progress of women and first need to break cultural, historic, and socioeconomic barriers so that they can fly high.
History of International Women’s Day
The history of International Women’s Day can be traced back to 1975 when the United Nations officially recognized 8th March to be celebrated as Women’s Day. The first theme was “Celebrating the Past, Planning for the Future.” It was set up with the idea of uplifting women in all sections of society.
International Women’s Day Significance
This day celebrates the cultural, political, economic, and social achievements of women. It also signifies the achievements of women in every field and how they equally contribute to development and growth. We should encourage women to stand for themselves and no hurdles can stop them from achieving their dreams. This women’s day we celebrate the warriors who were continuously on-field during the tough time of Pandemic and also salute the womanhood of the ladies who are simultaneously completing their duties towards their personal as well as a professional career without failure.
