FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: Date, Schedule, Opening ceremony, Teams and Games

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: The 22nd FIFA World Cup will take place in 2022, and it will be an association football competition for the men’s national teams of FIFA’s member associations. From November 20 to December 18, 2022, it will take place in Qatar. After the event in South Korea and Japan in 2002, this will be the second World Cup wholly held in Asia and the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world.

On Sunday, November 20, the host nations of Qatar and Ecuador square off in Group A of the 2022 World Cup. The tournament was initially scheduled to start the next day at Al Thumama Stadium with Senegal’s matchup versus the Netherlands, but Qatar’s match was moved up so they could kick off their own competition.

FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony will take place, prior to the Group A match between Qatar and Ecuador. The 60,000-seat Al Bayt Stadium will host the event. Starting at 7:30 IST is when the opening ceremony is supposed to start.
Although FIFA hasn’t released a complete list of artists, South Korean boy band BTS’s Jungkook will perform ‘Dreamers’ at the ceremony. According to the Telegraph, other potential performers include Nora Fatehi, Robbie Williams, and the Black Eyed Peas.

Dua Lipa from the United Kingdom and Shakira from Colombia both declined to take the stage at Qatar’s opening ceremony.
