Q3. There are total 600 students in a school. Average age of boys is 12 years and of girls is 11 years while average age of all students is 11 yrs. and 3 months. Find the number of boys in the school.

Q6. Six years ago, the sum of the ages of father and son was 60 years. The ratio of their present ages is 2: 1. The present age of the father is:

Q7. If C’s age is twice the average age of A, B and C. A’s age is half the average of A, B and C and if B is 5 years old, then find the average age of A, B and C is:

Q8. The respective ages of a father and his son are 50 and 16 years. In how many years will the father be thrice as old as his son?

Sol. Father’s age = 50 years
Son’s age = 16 years
Let after ‘t’ years, father’s age is thrice of his son.
50 + t = 3(16 + t)
50 + t = 48 + 3t
2 = 2t
t = 1
After 1 year

Q9. The total ages of A, B and C at present is 90 years. Ten years ago the ratio of their ages was 5: 6:1. The present age of B is:
(a) 30 years
(b) 20 years
(c) 40 years
(d) 45 years

Sol. Sum of present ages of A, B and C = 90 years
Sum of ages, 10 years ago = 60 years
And Ratio = 5 : 6 : 1
So, (5 + 6 + 1) r → 60
12r → 60
1r → 5 years
Present age of B = (30+10) years
= 40 years


Q10. The ratio of the father’s and son’s age is 7 : 4. The product of their ages is 1792. The ratio of their ages after 6 years will be:
(a) 31 : 19
(b) 8 : 5
(c) 7 : 4
(d) 5 : 8

Q11. Present age of Rahul is 8 years less than Ritu’s present age. If 3 years ago Ritu’s age was x. Also, present age of Ritu is 5 times of present age of Rahul. Find present age of Ritu
(a) 10
(b) 15
(c) 20
(d) 25

S11. Ans.(a)
Sol. According to the question,
Present age of Ritu = (x + 3)
Present age of Rahul = (x + 3 – 8)
                                  = (x – 5)
Also,

(x + 3) = 5 (x – 5)
x + 3 = 5x – 25
28 = 4x
∴ x = 7
Present age of Ritu = 10

Q12. The ratio between the ages of a father and a son at present is 5 : 3 respectively. Four years hence the ratio between the ages of the son and his mother will be 1 : 3 respectively. What is the ratio between the present ages of the father and the mother respectively?
(a) 3 : 4
(b) 5 : 4
