ARI Pune develops “bug sniffer” for detection of pathogens

 A device named “bug sniffer” has been developed by the researchers at the Agharkar Research Institute (ARI), Pune for the rapid detection of pathogens. It is a sensitive and low-cost sensor and has the capability to detect as low as ten bacterial cells from a sample size of one millilitre in the duration of just 30 minutes.

IIT Ropar develops ‘WardBot’ for COVID-19 patients

In order to deliver medicines and food to COVID-19 patients in isolation wards without human intervention, a ‘WardBot’ has been developed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar (Punjab).
It can carry food items and medicines at different beds to patients in the ward.

Fitch slashes India’s GDP growth forecast to 1.8%

Fitch Solutions slashed India’s economic growth forecast for the financial year 2020-21  to 1.8%. The forecast has been lowered from 4.6% to 1.8% stating the large-scale loss of income across the economy due to the pandemic.
