(iii) Number Analogy – In this type, there is a certain relationship between two given numbers and we are required to find that relation and on this basis, another number is found.

Eg.1   2, 7, 14, 23 , ? , 47

1) 28
2) 34
3) 31
4) 68
Sol. The given sequence is + 5, +7, +9, ….
I.e., 2 + 5 = 7, 7 + 7 = 14, 14 + 9 = 23
Missing No = 23 + 11  = 34

Eg.2 4, 6, 12, 14, 28, 30, ……

1) 32
2) 64
3) 60
4) 40
Sol. → The given sequence is a combination of two series 4, 12, 28… and 6, 14, 30….. clearly the number to be found is from the first category.
Now the pattern followed is +8, +16,+32…
So, missing no. – 28 + 32 = 60

Find the wrong no. in the series.

Eg.3 7, 28, 63, 124, 215, 342

1) 7
2) 28
3) 124
4) 215
Sol. → The correct sequence is 23 – 1, 33 – 1, 43 – 1, etc.
Here 28 is wrong.
