28th April: World Day for Safety and Health at Work
World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2020 is celebrated annually on 28th April to promote ethical work culture and a safe work environment. The International Labour Organisation (ILO) declared this day in order to raise awareness and prevent occupational accidents and diseases. It highlights the issue of the importance of safety and health in the workplace. In our daily lives, most of the people spend the majority of their time working. Hence, it is mandatory to take care of safety in a place that we call our ‘second home’. The main objective of this day is to reduce work-related health and injuries promoting a work-friendly environment.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2020 theme is “Stop the pandemic: Safety and health at work can save lives”. As due to COVID-19, companies around the world are working from home right now. But a major challenge of combating the disease at the workplace is still a matter of concern. To promote the same, the theme for this year been decided.

On 28 April, an international campaign known as World Day for Safety and Health at Work is promoted by several organisations like UN, ILO, communities, and government bodies.
Also, leaders of work Community and organisational representatives promote the day by speaking on various issues like workplace health, safety measures etc. Several programs focusing on the health issues on the safety measures broadcast around the world.
